As the oak used at D&S
Oakworks Ltd is rough sawn and can vary by up to ¼” we elect to make
our joints by hand-marking and hand-finishing to ensure a fit that
accommodates the variations. This is a good thing that means we get
to be hands-on and the customer gets joints with even overhang and
a guaranteed fit.
All our joints are assembled in the workshop before a piece is despatched
thus further ensuring that the customer gets a project that is easy
to assemble. This is especially important when the customer takes
delivery of a kit for self assembly.
We use traditional jointing methods, especially pegged mortise and
tenon joints, but will vary this depending on the application. All
joints are hand finished.
